Product Review – ReleaseZyme

If you have a sluggish colon, meaning that you are constipated (fewer than 1 bowel movement per day), or if your stool is really hard, tarry, or too soft, you may want to consider taking some sort of natural supplement.

Of course, the supplement will aid your body in getting rid of the toxins and debris, which is great…however, the main reason this even happens is because your diet is out of whack and you are not digesting your food properly.  So, while you are taking a supplement to support your body, you also need to make adjustments to your diet and increase your exercise to get your colon functioning properly.

Varicose Veins Be Gone

Sometimes we let vanity get the best of us and other times it is a good thing that we pay attention to how we look.  When it comes to varicose veins, this is when it is a good thing to pay attention.  Not only are varicose veins not very attractive, they can be a sign that there may be something else going on in your body.

Varicose veins are actually the product of veins that are damaged.  The damage can occur because of a poor diet, heavy lifting, and standing or sitting for too long of a period of time, in addition to other factors.  What happens is the wall of the veins enlarges which makes the valves of the vein to malfunction.

Signs that you may have varicose veins are:

  • distended veins
  • swollen veins
  • painful leg veins
  • legs feel heavy, tight, and/or tired
  • numbness or tingling in the legs

Here are some natural ways to reduce pain associated with varicose veins, strengthen veins, and prevent varicose veins…

Bodywork
  • Walk every day; swim often
  • Don’t stand or sit too long…take breaks several times through out the day
  • Massage feet and legs twice daily (once in the morning & once in the evening)…optional – add essential oil for added benefits (i.e. myrrh, peppermint)
Supplements
  • Strengthen veins and increase circulation – Evening Primrose Oil 3000mg
  • Improve vein tone – Bilberry extract 4x per day
  • Reduce pain & heaviness with leg compress – apply Witch hazel compresses 2x daily
  • Reduce inflammation – take Protease IFC; apply aloe vera gel to legs and then elevate

Recipe – Healthy Brownies

One of my friends made this recipe for a party that we co-hosted several years ago and they are just so YUMMY and healthy…and super easy, too!

Ingredients
  • 1 box of chocolate cake mix
  • 1 tbsp instant coffee
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 can pure pumpkin
  • 1/4 cup nuts – walnuts, pecans, almonds (optional)
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Spray 9 x 13 baking dish with non-stick cooking spray (or spray 12 count muffin tin)
  3. Mix all ingredients together and pour into dish.
  4. Bake for 30 minutes.

Let cool before serving.

Optional – Top with Lite Cool Whip, chocolate chip minis, chopped nuts, and sugar free chocolate syrup.

Hearing Loss – Selective or Factual?

What did you say?  Could you repeat that?  I didn’t hear you…  How many times has this happened to you?  No matter if you are the person that can’t hear or the person that can’t be heard, it can be very frustrating.

The thing is that some people say that it is selective hearing and some say they really can’t hear…so which is it?  And, what can you do about it?

Actually, both, selective and factual, are true.  We will briefly cover selective hearing and then talk a little more in detail about factual hearing loss.

Selective hearing is just that…people who hear what they want to hear and nothing else.  This is very prominent in the Supra body type.  There are several problems with selective hearing but the biggest problem is that over time the people who are only selecting to hear what they want to hear will eventually have factual hearing loss…meaning they really can’t hear, even things they want to hear.

Factual hearing loss can be caused by many different things such as high blood pressure, gluten sensitivity, poor digestion, sinus infections, nerve damage, low calcium levels, excess ear wax, loud noises, tinnitus, smoking, and even some antibiotics and heart medications can cause hearing loss.  Wow!  That is a really wide range of things that can cause factual hearing loss.

But, as always, I have a list of some things you can do to minimize hearing loss and reduce some of the symptoms (i.e. ringing in the ear, pressure in the ear, etc.):

Podcast – Colon Cleanse Part 1

The very first step in doing detoxes is to make sure the colon is moving and functioning properly, so this is Part 1 of a 2 part series on colon cleanses.  This episode focuses on an herbal supplement that cleanses, repairs, and retones the colon so that it can function properly on its own, without herbal or other aids.

Diarrhea Dilemma

It just never seems to be a good time for diarrhea to hit.  And, when it does, you find yourself in a real dilemma.  If you know what caused it, you’ll be a lot quicker to find a solution.

Diarrhea can happen for several different reasons…bacteria or viral infection, allergic reaction, or intestinal parasites could be at fault.  Good news is there are quite a few things that you can do to ease the discomfort and the dilemma:

Infection Control – Take Black Walnut Hulls twice daily.
Soothe Cramping – Drink chamomile tea.
Dry Up Diarrhea – Temporarily take activate charcoal tabs with calcium/magnesium/zinc at night.
Balance Bowels – 10,000 IU of Vitamin A per day OR 6 Garlic caps daily.
Increase Absorption Ability – 3 Apple pectin capsules daily.

Anytime you have had a bout of diarrhea, you’ll want to be sure to replenish the good bacteria in your gut…take Probiotics.

Men’s Papaya Facial

So many times the men in our lives just miss out on some of the really good stuff…like facials.  In our clinic, I use to give facials to men quite often…and they loved it!  So, here is a super simple facial to relax and pamper your man with.

Here is what you’ll need:

  • comfy chair (like a recliner), draped with a sheet and a dry towel laid across the headrest
  • 5 hot, moist hand towels
  • bowl of hot water
  • cotton pads
  • facial skin toner
  • facial scrub
  • papaya facial blend (see recipe)
  • facial moisturizing cream
  • relaxing music, candles, and other elements to enhance relaxation

Step 1:

  • If you are using the Igloo, dampen all of the hand towels with hot water ( you may put the dampened towels in the microwave to heat them more thoroughly, if you’d like) and then store them in the Igloo to keep them warm.  Or, if you are using the Crockpot, dampen all hand towels in warm water and place in Crockpot.  Set Crockpot to low and let heat through for about 30 minutes.
  • Set up the area you’ll be using…gather supplies in an orderly fashion near the treatment chair and set the mood with music, candles, etc.

Step 2:

  • Warmly greet your man, making sure you tell him how much he deserves to be pampered.  Have him sit in the special chair and relax.

Step 3:

    • Soak several cotton pads in the facial toner.  Use these toner soaked cotton pads to gently wipe away the day’s dirt and debris from the face and neck.  Don’t forget to run down his jawline to and around his ears.  This is very cooling and invigorating.
    • Take one the warm towels out and open it so the steam can escape…be sure it isn’t too hot for his face and gently lay the towel around his face, making sure his nose and mouth are free and clear for breathing…the easiest way to do this is to grab the towel at each short end, place the middle of the towel on his face around his chin and bring the tails up and around his face allowing them to overlap and rest on his forehead.  Allow the warm towel to soak into his skin for about a minute or two and then remove it gently.
    • Now apply a little facial scrub to your fingers, adding a couple of drops of water from your bowl of warm water, and massage his face from the chin up and over his cheeks, nose, and around and up and over his forehead in a circulation motion.  Follow this pattern two more times.
    • Take another warm towel out and open it so the steam can escape making sure it isn’t too hot for his face and lay it on his face as previously explained.  Allow to soak for a minute or two and then gently remove it, using it to help take the scrub off his face.  You may also use a couple of more clean cotton pads dipped in the warm water in the bowl to aid in this process as well.

  • Now apply the papaya facial blend (which you made earlier) to his face evenly…be sure to include the neck.  It may be easier to apply the blend with an artist’s paint brush.  Apply a warm towel to the top of the blend and allow to cool off a bit…do not remove but add a 2nd warm towel on top of it.
  • While these towels soak and warm the face, massage each of your man’s hands, one at a time for about 3 minutes each.  After you are finished with the hand massage, gently take the towels off, using them to help take the mask off his face.  You may also use a couple of more clean cotton pads dipped in the warm water in the bowl to aid in this process as well.
  • Use the final warm towel to wrap his face for the last time, allow it to soak for a moment and then remove it.
  • Apply a thin layer of facial moisturizer to his face and massage it in.

Step 4:

  • Allow your man to rest and relax afterwards for a few extra minutes.
  • Remind him of how special he is and how deserving he is of such treatment.
  • Have him look in the mirror after he gets up to see how great he looks!

Step 5:

  • Clean up any messes.
  • Launder the dirty towels.
  • Put away all ingredients.

Stuffy Sinuses Solutions

9550709_sTo me, one of the worst things is a stuffy or runny nose.  People get them for all kinds of reasons including allergies (pollen, food, etc.) and infections (bacterial, viral, or fungal).  But, no matter the cause, we all want to know how the heck to get rid of the headache, pain, bad breath, and congestion associated with drippy noses.  Here are some great natural remedies and ideas:

Sugar-Free / Grain-Free Pumpkin Pie

This is a great sugar-free and grain-free recipe.  I got this recipe when I was in CEA-HOW several years ago.  We still enjoy it today!

Ingredients:

  • 16 oz can of pure pumpkin puree
  • 12 oz can of evaporated milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup Splenda
  • pinch of salt
  • 2 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
  2. Spray pie pan with non-stick cooking spray.
  3. Mix all ingredients together and pour into pie pan.
  4. Bake for 15 minutes.
  5. Reduce heat to 350 degrees F and bake another 45 minutes or until knife inserted into the middle comes out clean.

Let cool and cut into 6 slices.  On CEA-HOW, one slice equals one vegetable.

Low Blood Pressure — Not Always a Good Thing

It is so frustrating for me to walk into a doctor’s office with my daughter or my husband and hear that their blood pressure is great…and when I ask what it is, the answer is always that “it’s low and that’s really good.”  The nurse or doctor always has a smile on their face like they just told me the best news in the world…Ummmm, it is NOT ok.

Why is no one, or I should say very few people, in the medical community concerned with low blood pressure?  If your blood pressure is too low, you die…not good.  Ok…you now know one of my pet peeves.  LOL!  But, it is a very serious problem and it needs to be addressed.

In the medical community, low blood pressure is classified as 100/60 or anything below that.  But, what we’ve found in our clinic is that low blood pressure signs can actually start taking place at around the 115/75 range.  That reading is not too far from the “normal” reading of 120/80.  This is happening for a reason…most of which you have control over.  That is the good news.  And, as you are working to make the long term dietary and lifestyle changes required for better blood pressure, there are some additional things you can do to assist your body in the healing process.  Yes, low blood pressure, is a healing process because the body isn’t functioning optimally and needs to be healed from the inside.
